US Study Reveals Alarming 310-Fold Rise in Obesity Drug Prescriptions for Young Children
A new study examining over 3.5 million American children aged 8-11 with obesity has found a dramatic increase in prescriptions for GLP-1 class drugs, used for weight loss. The research, published in the journal Pediatrics, observed a 310-fold surge in these prescriptions between January 2019 and June 2026, rising from 0.03% to 9.3% in 2026.
