U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance on Wednesday answered criticism from Israeli host Yinon Magal in an interview with Meghan Kelly on SiriusXM. After Kelly raised Magal’s remarks, Vance said Magal and other opponents of the Iran ceasefire were “adopting Iranian propaganda.”
Vance defended the administration’s foreign policy, arguing that critics offered no real alternative beyond an “endless conflict.” He said the operation had already achieved its goals, including slowing Iran’s nuclear program and removing its ability to threaten neighboring states, and he insisted the situation now allowed for negotiations.
He also pointed to what he described as the deal’s economic benefits, saying Brent and West Texas oil prices had fallen and that this would help lower fuel and energy costs for Americans after a difficult period.
The dispute began after the ceasefire announcement with Iran, when Magal posted a harsh attack on Vance, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. Magal called Vance a “trash” and said the deal had been driven by pressure from Gulf states and advisers “bought with Qatari money.” He wrote that Israel had “been left alone” by the agreement, urged continuing the fighting in Lebanon, and praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “the right person at the right time” for the security situation. In response to Vance’s interview, Magal posted, “I am with Rubio,” and told the vice president, “If Vance wants to say something to me, he should come to Patritiotim.” Vance also rejected claims that the ceasefire needed congressional approval, saying the president had not conducted a war in the legal sense.
