Holy Scroll Stolen From Haifa Hotel Synagogue, Police Investigate
Police in Haifa have launched an investigation into the theft of a Torah scroll from a synagogue located within a hotel in the city. Officers from the Haifa station arrived at the scene after receiving a report, collected evidence, and initiated searches and investigative actions to identify the suspect and recover the stolen scroll.
The incident is believed to have occurred during Shabbat. A social media post claimed the Torah scroll was stolen from the Chabad House in the German Colony area of Haifa, on Ben Gurion Street. The post also stated that a police complaint was filed and raised concerns about how prayers would be conducted at the location without the scroll.
While the street is known for regular protests, the post noted that no connection has been established at this time between the protests and the theft. Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
