Trump Threatens Strike on Iran's Fordow Nuclear Facility

U.S. President Donald Trump has escalated pressure on Tehran, announcing that Washington will soon strike the fortified, underground nuclear complex known as "Mount Kirk" (Kuh-e Kolang). Trump emphasized that American intelligence is closely monitoring Iran to prevent uranium enrichment to weapons-grade levels. He characterized the situation not as a full-scale "war" but as a limited "military skirmish" with minimal costs, comparing current losses of 18 individuals to those in past conflicts like Vietnam.

The underground facility is located near Iran's main uranium enrichment site in Natanz. It was constructed within a granite rock formation to serve as an air-raid-proof site for the production and assembly of centrifuges, following the destruction of an above-ground workshop in a mysterious explosion in 2020. According to U.S. media reports, Israeli and American intelligence agencies maintain round-the-clock surveillance of the facility.

Trump's threats come amid ongoing military escalation in the region. U.S. officials had previously discussed potential operations against Kharg Island and establishing physical control over the Strait of Hormuz. These statements were followed by military actions, with U.S. forces attacking Iranian oil tankers transiting the strait on September 6th.
