Israel Foreign Ministry Rejects UK's Gaza Claims as 'Stories'

British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband stated on Saturday, September 5, that the UK government must act "more decisively" regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip. Miliband's remarks followed a meeting with individuals who had visited or were currently working in Gaza, describing their accounts as "horrifying." He specifically mentioned hearing about alleged blockages of medicine and children dying while awaiting essential treatment.

In response, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs challenged Miliband's statements, particularly his use of the word "stories." The ministry asserted that if Miliband were interested in facts, he would know that no restrictions are placed on medicine entering Gaza and that no medications are being blocked. The Israeli MFA provided data indicating that 22,500 tons of medical supplies have entered the Strip since the ceasefire agreement took effect.

The Israeli ministry also highlighted that Gaza residents continue to receive medical treatment outside the Strip, with 200 individuals utilizing this option in the preceding two weeks. Furthermore, Israel reminded Miliband that the UK is part of the International Gaza Support Center, which facilitates medical aid delivery, implying he should be aware of these facts.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry concluded its statement with a pointed remark, suggesting that "facts apparently matter less (when making a video for a political audience)." The exchange occurred via social media, with the Israeli MFA posting its response to Miliband's video.
