Jewish Settler Claims Misrepresentation in Ramallah Area Incident

A Jewish settler, Amichav Malt, has penned an open letter to U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Harkey, refuting media reports about an "unusual incident" in the Palestinian village of Turmus Ayya. Malt, whose brother was killed in a recent attack, stated he was the driver of the security vehicle filmed by the ambassador during his visit.

Malt explained that his shepherd reported dozens of vehicles gathering on the village outskirts, an area from which recent attacks and arsons against settlers have originated. He drove the security vehicle to investigate, informing the IDF as per protocol. Upon arrival, they encountered "distinguished individuals and media teams" and proceeded on their way.

Shortly thereafter, the IDF informed them the gathering was a coordinated and approved visit. Malt expressed frustration that within minutes, media outlets portrayed them as "dangerous settlers." He asserted that this was the entire story and criticized the immediate negative portrayal.

The incident occurred during Ambassador Harkey's visit to Turmus Ayya, a Palestinian village in the West Bank. The initial reports, which Malt is contesting, described the settler's presence as an "unusual incident" during the ambassador's visit.
