The all-female group Mango, a late 1980s and early 1990s pop act, is set to perform together again on Wednesday night at Aviv Geffen’s traditional Rock Ball. The reunion brings Miri Nevo, Yasmine Gamliel and Michal Tzfir back on stage after years without appearing together.
Mango was formed in 1988 under artistic director Tzedi Tzarfati and became one of the era’s best-known Israeli girl groups. The trio first gained attention in the Eurovision preselection, where they finished sixth with the song “Yedidai.”
A year later, the band released its only album, which became a major success. Its best-known songs included “Garah BeShinkin,” “Matchila MeHatchala,” “Chelek MiShlomi” and “Rega.” The group lasted for three years in total.
In 1991, Gamliel left the band, and Mango was dissolved after an attempt to replace her failed. The reunion performance marks the first time the three will share a stage again in many years.
