IDF Soldier With PTSD Dies After Opening Fire in Netanya
The death of an armed individual who opened fire with a long-barreled weapon at buildings and police forces in the Kiryat Sharon neighborhood of Netanya has been confirmed. Initial investigations revealed the neutralized suspect was an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) stemming from his military service.
The soldier, who arrived at the scene in civilian clothing, began shooting at residential buildings, causing residents to flee to their homes. Police forces arrived and engaged in a firefight, during which the soldier was critically wounded. He was later pronounced dead.
