Prominent Israeli Journalist Calls for Unity Government with Netanyahu

Veteran Israeli journalist and columnist Ari Shavit has launched a strong critique of the political stance that centers on disqualifying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, arguing that this approach harms the entire country. In an interview on the program 'Va'adat Ha'orchim' on Radio Galai Yisrael, Shavit addressed the current political climate and the actions of opposition leader Yair Lapid.

Shavit, who identifies as not supporting Netanyahu and not being right-wing, stated, "All my life I have opposed the 'Only Not Bibi' approach. I thought that 'Only Not Bibi' was a disaster for the right and a disaster for the left, a disaster for everyone. I think Yair Lapid adopted the 'Only Not Bibi' line, and that is what led him."

Emphasizing the need for a shift in the political system, Shavit called for a bridging of existing political divides. "There is nothing I want more, out of my love for this country and this people, than for us to have a Zionist unity government of the Likud and the center-left," he concluded.
