MK Meir Porush sharply criticized the police response to a protest on Tuesday morning, saying it did not resemble conduct expected from a police force in a state ruled by Jews, or from a country that claims to be democratic. He said the violent dispersal of the demonstration was the kind of scene usually associated with Turkey and Iran.
Porush called for Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai to resign immediately, and said any police officer or commander who took part in wrongdoing should also go home today. His remarks came in response to the morning crackdown, which he described as excessively violent.
