US Ambassador Calls Jewish Rioters in West Bank 'Terrorists'

U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Jack Lew, stated on Saturday that Jewish rioters who have harmed Palestinians in the West Bank could be described as "terrorists." Lew acknowledged that the term might be difficult for some to hear but insisted it accurately describes the actions.

Lew expressed awareness of the difficulties faced by Palestinians and emphasized that "terrorists" is an appropriate label for those perpetrating violence. He added that while he does not know what actions Israel is taking, the situation requires a resolution.

"These people are a small number compared to the number of settlers in Judea and Samaria," Lew said, referring to the West Bank. "It's a few hundred, but a few hundred too many." He reiterated the message that Palestinians have the right to live in security, and the government has a role in ensuring this.

While acknowledging limitations on what the U.S. can do, such as not being able to conduct investigations, Lew affirmed the U.S. ability to influence the situation and highlight injustices. He stressed that the U.S. will continue to deliver this message.
