Lebanese Analyst Calls for End to Demonization, Hezbollah's Ouster

Lebanese analyst Elissa al-Hashash, a former US State Department media advisor, has called for Lebanon and Israel to cease decades of mutual demonization and for Lebanon to become free of Hezbollah. She argued that the Abraham Accords, rather than the peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan, offer a model for achieving a genuine, not a cold, peace between the two nations. Al-Hashash published her analysis on the website NowLebanon, known for its critical stance on Hezbollah.

While similar sentiments have been expressed before in Lebanon, al-Hashash noted that these voices are currently more prominent than ever. She attributes the ongoing conflict in Lebanon not to Israel, but to Hezbollah. Al-Hashash urged Israel to actively work towards ensuring all Lebanese understand this perspective and to cooperate with Beirut to foster a new reality in the country.
