Gantz's Party Fails to Unite with Another Faction Ahead of Elections
Negotiations for a potential merger between Benny Gantz's National Unity party and Gilad Erdan's Unity party have failed, according to Channel 12 reporter Amit Segal. Sources within Gantz's party stated that following another meeting between Gantz and Erdan, Gantz announced that a union between the two factions would not occur.
This development follows a report from the previous day that former Brigadier General Dedi Simchi would not be joining Gantz's list. Simchi and Gantz had been in advanced discussions for several weeks about running together, with Simchi reportedly considered for the second spot on the list. However, Simchi, the former Fire and Rescue Commissioner, has now decided to withdraw entirely from the political arena before making any official moves, rather than exploring other political options or affiliations.
