Gantz Open to Reconciliation After Party Departures

Former Defense Minister and current chairman of the National Unity Party, Benny Gantz, has not ruled out the possibility of reconciling with party member Chili Tropper, despite Tropper's recent announcement of his departure from the party. Gantz stated on Sunday during an interview with 103fm radio that while he was personally "hurt" by Tropper's decision, his "values are identical" to Tropper's. He emphasized that Israel's needs should take precedence over personal feelings, expressing hope that a way forward could be found. Gantz also addressed recent riots in the Palestinian village of Qusra, urging Prime Minister Netanyahu to take decisive action. He reminded Netanyahu of his responsibility as prime minister to hold the Defense Minister, Minister of State for Defense, and Minister of Public Security accountable, suggesting Netanyahu is "captive" and unable to act effectively. Earlier reports indicated that numerous senior figures had offered Gantz significant positions outside the government on the condition of his resignation from politics, an offer Gantz had previously rejected outright.
