Maccabi Tel Aviv Coach Encouraged by Preseason Performance Despite Loss

Maccabi Tel Aviv began their preseason with a close 86-84 exhibition loss to Bnei Herzliya on Thursday, but the team is focusing on positive signs rather than the result. Coach Oded Katash was without several key players, including Roman Sorkin, Yovel Zoosman, Jalen Reynolds, and Daniel Theis, who were rested after the international break. Additionally, injured players Gur Lavi, T.J. Leaf, and J.P. Tokoto, who is sidelined for two to three weeks with a partial hamstring tear, were unavailable.

The absence of these players meant that younger additions to the training camp, who received playing time, will likely depart the team after the preseason concludes. Despite the depleted roster, new guard Keeton Wallace impressed, scoring 20 points and showing promising shooting and passing abilities. "He's making a very good impression, and it looks like he can give us a lot," a team source commented.

Another newcomer, forward Bonzie Colson, also had a strong debut, contributing 15 points and appearing comfortable with the team. "He looks like he already feels at home and was significant in the game," observers noted. Forward Armando Bacot added 9 points and 8 rebounds, showcasing his strength under the basket.
