Maccabi Tel Aviv Drops Preseason Opener to Bnei Herzliya After Leading by 17
Maccabi Tel Aviv, following a turbulent summer marked by ownership changes and key signings like Yam Madar, began its 2026/27 preseason with a narrow 86-84 loss to Bnei Herzliya on Thursday. The team, which secured a domestic double last season, held a commanding 17-point lead at its peak and was ahead 53-38 at halftime. However, Herzliya mounted a significant comeback in the second half, outscoring Maccabi in the final two quarters to secure the victory.
Maccabi's performance was impacted by the absence of several players. Roman Sorkin was rested after the international break, while injured players Iffe Lundberg and Jalen Hudson did not play.
