Southampton Manager Confirms Daniel Peretz as First-Choice Goalkeeper

Southampton manager Tunde Eklert has reaffirmed his commitment to Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz as the team's starting player between the posts. Speaking ahead of Saturday's Championship match against Lincoln City, Eklert addressed the goalkeeping situation, which includes the recent return of Aaron Ramsdale from a loan spell.

Eklert stated that both he and the club made a commitment to Peretz upon his arrival in January, promising him the role of first-choice goalkeeper. "This is what he deserves, he has been playing great," Eklert commented on Peretz's performances. He also confirmed that "George Long" remains the second-choice goalkeeper, with "Jamie Jones" completing the goalkeeping trio.

Regarding Ramsdale, Eklert acknowledged that his history with the club predates Eklert's tenure. "His story at the club started before me," Eklert explained. "We had honest conversations from the start of preseason until the end of the transfer window. He is part of the squad. The expectation for him is clear, to support the team in the best possible way."

Southampton, currently 18th in the Championship after a points deduction, seeks a win against Lincoln City to improve their standing. The team began the season with two wins and a draw in their first four matches. Peretz will be aiming for his first league clean sheet of the season in the upcoming game.
