Southampton Manager Confirms Daniel Peretz as First-Choice Goalkeeper

Southampton manager Tunde Eklert has reaffirmed his commitment to Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz as the team's starting player between the posts. Peretz, who joined the club in January, was promised the starting role, a commitment Eklert stated remains unchanged.

"We committed to him that he would be the first goalkeeper, and that remains," Eklert said during a press conference ahead of Saturday's Championship match against Lincoln City. He praised Peretz's recent performances, stating, "I think he deserves it, he's had some great appearances."

The manager also addressed the situation of Aaron Ramsdale, who returned from loan at Newcastle and remained with the club despite the transfer window closing. Eklert clarified that Ramsdale's history with the club predates his tenure and that honest conversations have been held. Ramsdale is expected to support the team, with Eklert stating, "His expectation is clear, to support the team in the best way possible."

Eklert also confirmed George Long as the second-choice goalkeeper, with Jamie Jones completing the goalkeeping trio. Southampton, currently 18th in the league after a points deduction, will be looking for a win against Lincoln City to climb the table. Peretz will aim to secure his first clean sheet in the league this season.
