Border Police Neutralize Attacker Near Jerusalem's Damascus Gate

Border Police officers neutralized a Palestinian attacker who attempted to stab them near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem's Old City early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 3:45 AM when officers on patrol noticed a 33-year-old resident of East Jerusalem approaching them with a knife. The officers identified the threat, opened fire, and neutralized the assailant, who was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. No security forces were injured in the incident.

Medical teams from United Hatzalah provided initial treatment to a man in his 30s who sustained light injuries. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where his condition was described as light. Responders described arriving quickly and providing aid to the man before his evacuation.

Jerusalem District Police Commander, Superintendent Asher Fuld, arrived at the scene and conducted a situation assessment. He commended the officers for their swift and decisive response, which prevented casualties among security forces and civilians. Following the assessment, Fuld stated that "the city of Jerusalem is safer than ever."
