One day after reports of understandings on a memorandum of agreement between Iran and the United States, Tehran issued new threats. Ibrahim Azizi, head of the National Security Committee in Iran’s parliament, said on Tuesday evening that Washington must prove its commitment to the deal that is set to be signed in Switzerland on Friday.
In a post on X, Azizi argued that Iran’s resilience had changed the strategic course of talks, claiming that the United States came to the negotiating table on Iran’s terms. He said Washington now needs to show commitment by ending the war in Lebanon and by complying with every clause of the memorandum of understanding.
Azizi also warned that any breach of the agreement would draw a “decisive and firm response.” He said the era of one-sided demands and conditions against Iran was over.
