A disturbing incident was recorded at 3:03 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of the building where United Torah Judaism chairman and Knesset member Yitzhak Goldknopf lives. Security footage, published by Yaakov Hershkovitz in Israel Hayom, shows a masked young man, apparently wearing a tzitzit garment, entering the garage and approaching Goldknopf’s vehicle.
According to the video, the youth tried to force open the car doors and spent several minutes checking possible ways to break in, but he ultimately failed. At this stage, the motive is unclear, and it is not known whether the incident was a criminal attempted theft or a protest connected to political disputes.
The fact that the suspect appears, at least from the footage, to be dressed in a haredi style has drawn particular attention because of rising internal tensions in the ultra-Orthodox community in recent times. After the incident, Goldknopf’s office contacted the Knesset Sergeant at Arms, and the Knesset began examining the case and collecting relevant evidence.
