Ex-Mossad Chief reportedly exploring move to Likud party

Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen is reportedly considering joining the Likud party ahead of the upcoming elections, according to a report by the "Hayom" website. Cohen, who led the intelligence agency from 2016 to 2021 and previously served as National Security Advisor, allegedly approached senior Likud officials through intermediaries to explore the possibility of securing a reserved spot on the party's list.

While Cohen has long been considered a respected figure within the national camp and his name has surfaced in speculation about joining the Likud leadership before, this marks the first reported concrete step towards such a move. The initial contacts were reportedly made by representatives on his behalf rather than directly by Cohen himself.

Repeated attempts to reach Yossi Cohen for comment were unsuccessful by the time of the report. The Likud party issued a statement denying any knowledge of such overtures, stating, "We are not aware of anything like this. There was no approach from Yossi Cohen to Likud or from Likud to Yossi Cohen."
