Actress Einat Weizman Joins Balad Party List for Knesset Election

Israeli actress and director Einat Weizman, widely recognized for her role in the beloved film "Operation Grandma," announced on Wednesday that she has submitted her candidacy for the 26th Knesset on behalf of the Balad party. Weizman, who also starred in the series "Hafuch," stated in a social media post that while she does not expect to enter the Knesset herself, she is a staunch supporter of the party and its vision.

"I signed yesterday to submit my candidacy for the 26th Knesset with the Balad party. Although you won't see me in the Knesset, I signed with great pride because I believe in Balad's path and in the men and women who lead it," Weizman wrote. She further elaborated on the party's platform, asserting that the country has moved away from the idea of equality, but vowed to reopen that door. "The state has long since closed the door on the idea of equality, but we will open it."

Weizman expressed her belief that the party's vision will be realized in the future, stating, "This is the idea that leads the party, and even if it takes years, a state of all its citizens will arise. That's the direction. Equality. Simple. Mundane. Brilliant."

This is not Weizman's first time joining the Balad list. For the 25th Knesset elections in 2022, she was placed sixth on the party's slate, but Balad did not pass the electoral threshold. Throughout the years, the actress has publicly expressed her support for the party and its promoted positions.
