Rishon LeZion Invites Elderly, Isolated Residents to Rosh Hashanah Community Meal

The Rishon LeZion Municipality will host a community holiday meal on the eve of Rosh Hashanah 5787 (September 11, 2026) for elderly residents and individuals of all ages who are living alone. This initiative, a collaboration with the municipality's Social Integration Administration and the Ministry of Welfare, aims to ensure no resident spends the holiday alone.

The meal will take place at the dining hall of the Bulgarian Nursing Home in the city, with round-trip transportation provided for those who need it. Additionally, elderly residents can stay, free of charge, for up to 10 days during the High Holidays (September 3 to October 10, 2026) at one of the nursing homes nationwide that are partnered with the Ministry of Welfare.

Residents interested in these hosting options are encouraged to register on the municipal website. Following registration, city representatives will contact them with further details. Mayor Raz Kinstlich emphasized the importance of community and togetherness during the holidays, stating, "Our city is a large, supportive community that looks around, sees those in need of companionship and warmth, and takes care of them." He invited all residents in need to join the holiday meal or the hosting options to celebrate the new year together.

Deputy Mayor and Head of Welfare, Moti Agami, added, "A strong community is measured by its ability to identify those in need and extend a hand in time. Throughout the year, and especially during the holidays, we work to provide elderly citizens and isolated residents with support, connection, and guidance." He urged those in need to reach out and encouraged residents to help spread the word about this initiative.
