Bereaved Father Attacked in Acre; Suspects Arrested

A father who lost his daughter in the October 7 Nova music festival massacre was brutally assaulted in the ancient city of Acre over the weekend. The incident occurred when the bereaved father was walking his dog, and a dispute erupted between him and another dog owner following an interaction between their pets. The argument quickly escalated into a violent physical assault, with the other individual and an accomplice severely beating the father.

Following the attack, police forces from the Acre station were dispatched and launched an immediate investigation. Given the sensitive background of the victim, intelligence and investigative units were mobilized for a swift operation to apprehend the suspects. Within a short period, police identified two suspects in their 20s, residents of Acre's Old City.

In a predawn raid, a combined force of detectives, elite counter-terrorism unit (YAMAS) fighters, and riot police stormed the homes of the suspects in Acre's Old City. Both individuals were arrested and taken for questioning.

After intensive interrogation, the two suspects were ordered detained. They were brought before a judge for a remand hearing, where the police requested their continued detention to complete the investigation. The court granted the police's request, extending their custody until September 7, 2026.

The police emphasized their zero-tolerance policy towards violence and bullying in public spaces and vowed to use all available means to bring offenders to justice.
