Jewish Family Attacked at Melbourne Airport in Antisemitic Incident

A Jewish family traveling from Melbourne to Israel experienced a severe antisemitic attack at the city's international airport. While waiting for their flight, a woman verbally assaulted the family, including an 11-year-old girl and a one-year-old baby, with slurs such as "baby killers," "Zionist Nazis," and "Zionist pigs."

The father, who requested anonymity due to safety concerns, told Australian media that the harassment occurred three times. After the initial encounter, the woman found the family again at security and accosted the father's sister, who was carrying a crying infant and a four-year-old daughter. The third incident took place at a terminal cafe, where the assailant was drinking wine before airport security intervened and ended the confrontation.

The family was left shaken, with the 11-year-old daughter reportedly crying. The father stated that since the October 7th attacks, he has instructed his children to conceal their Jewish identity in public.

Dr. Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission, strongly condemned the incident and urged the Australian Federal Police to investigate immediately and apprehend the suspect. A spokesperson for Melbourne Airport stated that no official complaint was filed but condemned all forms of antisemitism, emphasizing the airport's commitment to being an open and safe space for everyone.
