Rita and Ethnix Reunite for Surprise Performance of "Legend of Sun and Moon"
Israeli singer Rita and the band Ethnix delivered a surprise joint performance of their iconic 1990 hit "Legend of the Sun and Moon" at a New Year's event hosted by Bank Hapoalim's business division in Tel Aviv. The performance, which marked the first time the two acts shared a stage for this song in over 30 years, took place at the Culture Hall.
The song, originally created for the 1990 "Festigal" children's show to celebrate its tenth anniversary, features lyrics by the late Ehud Manor and music by Ethnix members Ze'ev Nechama and Tamir Kaliski. It has since become a staple of Israeli music, appearing on compilation albums for both Rita and Ethnix, but a live duet had remained elusive until this event.
The event, themed "A New Year and Its Blessings," gathered prominent figures from Israel's economy, the bank's management, and its business clients. Attendees were welcomed by Bank Hapoalim Chairman Noam Hagoel, CEO Yadin Antabi, and Deputy CEO of the Business Division Shmulik Arbel.
Following a reception, dinner, and remarks from bank leadership, the evening culminated in the unexpected musical performance. The rendition of "Legend of the Sun and Moon" by Rita and Ethnix reportedly electrified the audience, evoking nostalgia for the early 1990s.
