Man Posing as Hospital Staff Gets 30 Months for Sexually Abusing Patients

A Jerusalem Magistrate's Court has sentenced Matan Shaul to 30 months in prison for impersonating a medical staff member and committing indecent acts against patients, including a minor, under the guise of medical treatment. In addition to the prison sentence, Shaul received a nine-month suspended sentence and was ordered to pay 15,000 shekels in compensation to the minor victim.

Shaul was convicted based on his confession to a revised indictment, pleading guilty to two counts of indecent acts where consent was obtained through deception, and one count of attempted indecent acts under similar deceptive circumstances. The indictment detailed how Shaul entered the Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital at night, dressed in attire resembling that of medical personnel. He then approached patients, performing indecent acts on a minor and another patient, presenting these actions as medical examinations.
