Rabbi Levnon Disagrees with Rabbi Aviner on Voting for Yosef Haddad

Rabbi Elyakim Levanon, the rabbi of the Shomron Regional Council, has publicly disagreed with Rabbi Shlomo Aviner's directive against voting for the "Amcha Yisrael" party, led by retired Brigadier General Ofer Winter. The controversy stems from the party's second candidate, Yosef Haddad.

Rabbi Aviner had previously stated that it is forbidden, from a halachic (Jewish law) perspective, to vote for a party that includes a non-Jew in a prominent position. He clarified that while positive relations with non-Jews are permissible, they cannot hold leadership roles over the nation, even if they are "Righteous Among the Nations."

In contrast, Rabbi Levanon stated in an interview with Reshet Bet that while he personally does not advocate for voting for small parties, halachically, it is permissible to vote for Yosef Haddad. This marks a significant divergence on a matter of religious and political guidance concerning electoral choices.
