Hadar Cohen, 22, has officially committed to the University of Tulsa and will join its NCAA women’s basketball program through the cooperation of the ASSIST US and SHAK agencies. The announcement is part of the continuing wave of Israeli women’s players heading to U.S. colleges.
Cohen, who stands 1.91 meters tall, previously played for Israel’s youth national teams and has also appeared in the Israeli Premier League. Last season she starred for Maccabi ASA Jerusalem in the National League, averaging a double-double with 16.1 points and 11.7 rebounds per game.
Cohen said she is “very excited and proud” to join Tulsa, thanked everyone who supported her along the way, and expressed special thanks to the coaches at Tulsa for the opportunity. She added that she is looking forward to beginning the “new and exciting experience.”
ASSIST US owner Yarden Danan said helping Cohen realize her dream after an excellent season in the National League was rewarding, adding that the move will challenge her and help her arrive more ready for the Israeli Premier League and the national team. Tulsa coach Angie Nelp said the team is adding a “hybrid forward” with mobility, dynamic finishing, national team experience and strong defensive presence, and said her versatility, experience and competitiveness will benefit the program on and off the court.
