MK Slams Prosecution's Move Against Prison Service Chief

Member of Knesset Limor Son Har Melech fiercely criticized the State Prosecutor's Office's decision to summon Israel Prison Service Commissioner Kobie Yaakobi for a hearing before filing an indictment. Son Har Melech asserted that this action is part of a "persecution campaign" against those who have implemented stricter policies for terrorists in prisons.

She argued that Yaakobi's "true sin" is his commitment to executing the policies of the elected government and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, rather than adhering to the desires of the former Attorney General. Son Har Melech stated that since Ben-Gvir and Yaakobi took office, the lenient conditions for terrorists in prisons have ended, their conditions have been worsened, and the Prison Service has refocused on serving Israel's security.

Son Har Melech further alleged that those who failed to subdue the National Security Minister through threats and pressure are now attempting to remove his appointees, particularly the Prison Service Commissioner, through indictments. She concluded by stating that the prosecution cannot be allowed to use criminal proceedings as a tool to thwart right-wing policies or remove public officials who do not align with the "rule of bureaucrats."
