Carplus Launches New Short-Term Commercial Vehicle Rental Service

Carplus, a major Israeli automotive importer and distributor, is expanding its business vehicle offerings with a new short-term rental service for commercial vehicles. The service, operated by the company's operational leasing and maintenance division, will allow businesses to rent vans and trucks on a flexible, short-term basis, eliminating the need for long-term commitments. Previously, Carplus's shortest operational leasing period was six months.

The new offering targets businesses requiring vehicles for shorter durations, such as those experiencing a temporary increase in workload or undertaking time-limited projects. It can also serve as a temporary solution while awaiting the delivery of newly purchased or leased vehicles. Carplus suggests the service could be used to test business expansion before investing in new vehicles or as a replacement for a temporarily disabled vehicle, ensuring business continuity.

Initially, the rental fleet will include Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans in 3.5 and 5-ton weight classes, alongside light trucks such as the Fuso Canter (7.5 tons) and Mercedes-Benz Atego (10 tons). These vehicles are suitable for urban distribution, equipment and goods transport, and tasks requiring more than a standard commercial van.

Carplus estimates the Israeli market for rental commercial vehicles comprises approximately 2,500 units. The company believes there is a growing demand for flexible solutions, as businesses increasingly prefer to align their fleet size with actual operational needs rather than maintaining a large fleet during slower periods. The service will be available nationwide, though specific details on fleet size, pickup locations, and pricing are yet to be released.

Nir Dekel, Vice President of Commercial Vehicles for Businesses at Carplus, stated that the service will offer a diverse fleet tailored to various needs and uses, from commercial vans to light trucks, supported by nationwide availability and comprehensive service.
