Convicted Killer of Two Israelis in the 1980s Dies in Prison
Aatf Sbeih, a 68-year-old prisoner convicted of the 1987 kidnappings and murders of a child, Danny Katz, and a soldier, Dafna Carmon, died on Tuesday. Sbeih passed away at a hospital after his medical condition deteriorated, according to the Israel Prison Service. He had been serving his sentence at Rimonim-Ofek Prison in northern Israel.
The Prison Service stated that an investigation team has been appointed to examine the circumstances of Sbeih's death, as is standard procedure for any inmate fatality. Further details regarding his medical condition were not disclosed, citing privacy regulations.
