Hamas Launches Internal Probe After Israeli Raid Captures Senior Security Official

Hamas is facing significant shock and embarrassment following a daring Israeli operation in the heart of Gaza, which resulted in the capture of a senior figure within its internal security apparatus. The Palestinian terror group has decided to establish an urgent internal investigation committee after the raid on the home of Muein al-Arabeed, head of Hamas's counter-intelligence and personal security unit, known as "Al-Majd." According to sources within Hamas speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, the operation involved heavy gunfire, during which al-Arabeed's wife was killed and two sons were injured. Al-Arabeed himself was captured wounded and transferred to Israel for interrogation.

The Israeli operation, carried out by the Shin Bet and IDF forces, targeted a compound in the al-Khatiba neighborhood in western Gaza City. Israel considers al-Arabeed a top intelligence asset possessing highly sensitive information. In response to the significant intelligence coup and the potential for Hamas retaliation due to the severe embarrassment, Israel has heightened its alert status along the Gaza border.
