Hamas Leaders Furious Over Top Security Chief's Israeli Capture

Hamas leadership, both inside Gaza and abroad, is reportedly furious with security officials following Israel's successful capture of Muin al-Arbeed, head of the internal security apparatus in the Gaza Strip. Al-Arbeed was abducted on Tuesday by an Israeli special forces unit operating deep within the security zone of the "Battalion" area west of Gaza City.

Sources revealed that al-Arbeed holds a significant intelligence position, having previously been targeted for assassination by Israel twice and arrested in a prior special operation. He is not only the head of internal security but also part of the leadership committee overseeing security operations for Hamas and its military wing, the Qassam Brigades. This committee monitors key security agencies, including internal security, Qassam intelligence, and the political wing's general security apparatus.

Hamas has formed an internal committee to investigate the security lapse that allowed Israeli forces to operate undetected for weeks in a heavily monitored area. Security camera footage reportedly showed Israeli vehicles and personnel frequenting the area daily, observing movements, and indicated that a new camera was covertly installed by Israeli forces.

Al-Arbeed was reportedly preparing for his son's wedding, scheduled for Wednesday. During the operation, his son sustained serious injuries, as did another son and his daughter. Several of his security detail were also injured. Israeli forces allegedly exploited al-Arbeed's recent increased movements related to his son's wedding preparations to execute the swift abduction.

Al-Arbeed is described as an intelligence asset whom Israel had previously attempted to assassinate and had arrested in a prior operation.
