Simultaneously, the conflict lacks broad public support in the United States. A Reuters-Ipsos poll from late August found that 31% of Americans support a war, compared to 63% who oppose it. The same poll indicated that support for Trump had dropped from 40% to 33% since the conflict began. Reports suggest that maintaining the confrontation at a low intensity could aid Republicans during the election period.
