Trump Assures Israel on Iran: No Need to Fear Renewed War

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that Israel has no reason to worry about a renewed American war with Iran. Trump made these remarks to Israeli public broadcaster Kan 11 amidst Israeli readiness for potential involvement in the conflict. "Israel does not need to worry about a renewed war with Iran. I am the President, and I will take care of Israel," Trump said.

His comments come as tensions escalate between the U.S. and Iran, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. administration sources indicated that the current objective is not to expand the war but to continue operations aimed at curbing Iranian threats to shipping. The U.S. administration expressed significant satisfaction with its forces' success in enabling oil tankers to transit the Strait of Hormuz despite Iranian blockades.

The U.S. claims that the volume of oil barrels transiting the Strait of Hormuz this week is nearing pre-war levels. However, international maritime monitoring sources express skepticism about these figures but confirm an increase in the number of vessels successfully crossing.

The U.S. and Israel initiated hostilities against Iran on February 28, 2026, which included the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil exports and supply chains. Iran retaliated with attacks on Gulf states and what it described as "American and Israeli targets" in the region before a ceasefire was reached. A memorandum of understanding to end hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz was signed by Washington and Tehran on June 18, 2026, but later faltered due to disputes over its implementation and the waterway's security. Confrontations resumed in July, before U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday the resumption of strikes on targets within Iran.
