Israel Admits Navy Commandos Assassinated Syrian Nuclear Architect
Eighteen years after the operation, Israel has officially acknowledged that its elite naval commandos, Shayetet 13, assassinated Syrian General Mohammed Suleiman. Suleiman, a close confidant of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, was reportedly the architect of Syria's nuclear program and oversaw weapons transfers to Hezbollah.
The operation took place under the cover of darkness. Commandos emerged from the sea and approached within 150 meters of Suleiman's villa balcony while he was having dinner. They eliminated him with three precise shots to the back of his head.
The Israeli forces then retreated by sea, leaving no trace of their presence. The operation was one of the boldest in the history of the naval commando unit.
