Yeshiva Students Sing Vengeful Song to Netanyahu
During Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the Sderot Hesder Yeshiva on Wednesday, students sang a song calling for vengeance against Palestinians. Video footage shows the students singing lyrics that translate to "And avenge me one of my two eyes from Palestine, may their name be blotted out." The song, titled "Remember Me," is based on a passage from the Book of Judges. It has also become associated with far-right elements who substitute the word "Philistines" in the original text with "Palestine" to express a desire for revenge and to condemn Palestinian terrorism. The song was composed by Dov Shurin in 1996 following the murder of Yaron and Udi Unger by Palestinian terrorists.
