Yeshiva Students Sing Vengeful Song to Netanyahu
During Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the Sderot Hesder Yeshiva on Wednesday, students sang a song calling for vengeance against Palestinians. The students sang the song "Zichreni Na" (Remember Me), which includes the line, "And avenge one of my two eyes from Palestine, may their name be blotted out." Video footage of the event was published.
The song "Zichreni Na" contains verses from the Book of Judges. It has also become associated with far-right elements, with the word "Philistines" in the original lyrics replaced by "Palestine" to express a call for vengeance against Palestinians and Jewish terrorism. The song was composed by Dov Shurin following the 1996 murder of Yaron and Ufi Unger by Palestinian terrorists.
