Israel Rules Out Ebola Case After Second Negative Test

Israel's Ministry of Health has definitively ruled out any suspected Ebola infection in a young Israeli man who was hospitalized at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. The final confirmation came after a second test performed on the patient returned negative.

The individual, an Israeli in his 20s, had recently returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo two days prior to his hospitalization. Upon his return, he was admitted for medical evaluation due to potential symptoms and concerns about the virus. Following standard protocols for such cases, specialized tests were conducted to determine if he had contracted Ebola.

While the initial test result received on the previous day was negative, health officials opted for an additional test to ensure absolute certainty. With the second test also yielding a negative result, the Ministry of Health announced that the possibility of Ebola infection has been completely dismissed.

The ministry issued the statement to alleviate public concerns that arose following the young man's hospitalization and testing. They emphasized that currently, no confirmed cases of Ebola have been identified in Israel. The ministry also noted that Ebola is a severe viral disease requiring prompt and careful medical attention, especially for travelers returning from high-risk areas. In some instances, further testing and monitoring are necessary even after an initial negative result to definitively rule out the disease.
