Serbian Forward Signs With FK Čukarički, Returning to Former Club

Serbian forward Đorđe Jovanović is reportedly set to return to FK Čukarički, the club where he first gained prominence before his move to Maccabi Tel Aviv. Jovanović's contract with FC Basel was terminated, paving the way for his transfer back to the Serbian SuperLiga side.

Serbian media are hailing the move as "the biggest deal of the summer transfer window" for Čukarički. There is anticipation about whether Jovanović can meet expectations, with one outlet noting, "We will see in the coming months if Jovanović will meet the expectations placed upon him."

Jovanović was a standout player for Čukarički, scoring 11 goals in 15 league appearances before joining Maccabi Tel Aviv in February 2022. During his tenure with the Israeli club, he was later loaned to Maccabi Haifa for the most recent season, where he scored three goals in 18 appearances but also dealt with injuries and a reduced role in the team's rotation.
