Gantz Slams Lieberman's 'Boycotts,' Warns of Civil Strife

Blue and White party chairman Benny Gantz publicly criticized Avigdor Lieberman, leader of Yisrael Beiteinu, on Wednesday, stating that "one who boycotts half the nation cannot preach unity." Gantz's remarks came in response to Lieberman's recent declaration that he would not unite with Gadi Eisenkot, whom Lieberman accused of holding "vague positions."

Gantz, writing on the social media platform X, urged the formation of a broad Zionist government and warned that "boycotts and hatred are leading us to a civil war, which I am determined to prevent." He emphasized the need for a government that transcends blocs to address domestic and external challenges, calling for an end to "bloc warfare."

Lieberman, despite his refusal to join forces with Eisenkot, had previously called for other opposition parties to unite to prevent wasted votes. This statement followed discussions within the opposition about forming a larger political entity around Eisenkot, potentially including parties that might not pass the electoral threshold, such as Gantz's Blue and White, to minimize vote loss in elections.
