Israel Electric Corporation to Reconnect Northern Samaria Settlements

The Israel Electric Corporation is preparing to reconnect the northern Samaria settlements of Kedim and Ganim to the national power grid. This initiative is part of broader efforts to advance and develop settlement in the region. The project involves an investment of over 3.5 million shekels to establish new infrastructure for residential buildings, public facilities, and other planned structures.

Initial work is set to begin soon in Kedim, with an estimated cost of 130,000 shekels for basic infrastructure. The larger and more complex project will follow in Ganim, requiring an investment of approximately 3.37 million shekels to lay a new, extensive power grid. This infrastructure will serve both the settlement and a nearby military base, including the installation of about 3.5 kilometers of underground high-voltage cables.

The corporation is undertaking this work proactively, aiming to have essential systems operational before residents move in and public institutions begin functioning. This long-term planning anticipates future expansion of the settlements, ensuring the infrastructure can support increased demand. The goal is to prevent development from outpacing essential utility readiness.

Israel Electric Corporation CEO Meir Spiegler stated that the company is acting on government decisions and aligning its work with the needs of developing settlements. He emphasized the priority of completing infrastructure before residents occupy homes and public facilities become active, ensuring reliable and continuous power supply from the outset of the settlements' renewal.
