Israel Restricts Private Vehicle Crossings to Jordan Ahead of Yom Kippur

The Israel Airports Authority announced that private vehicles will be prohibited from exiting Israel to Jordan via the Jordan River and Yitzhak Rabin crossings between September 15 and September 20, 2026. The restriction is due to anticipated congestion at the border crossings in the days leading up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

During this period, travelers departing Israel via the Jordan River crossing without a private vehicle will still be able to cross. A shuttle service will be available from the Israeli side to the Jordanian side for a fee of 8 shekels per passenger.
