Alumni Urge Former Commanders Winter and Nehama to Unite or Withdraw from Politics

Dozens of alumni from the Bnei David institution in Eli have penned a sharp letter to retired Brigadier General Ofir Winter and retired Colonel Hazi Nehama, demanding they unite their political efforts or withdraw from the upcoming elections. The alumni expressed concern that separate runs by right-wing parties could split the vote, potentially leading to the establishment of a left-wing government.

The letter emphasizes the values of prioritizing the public good over personal interests, instilled during their time at the Bnei David yeshiva. The signatories warn that the election could be decided by a narrow margin of votes, and that a split on the right would waste tens of thousands of votes. They argue such a scenario, following years of difficult national struggles, could be catastrophic for Israeli settlement, security, and the country's Jewish identity.

Given the perceived danger to the right-wing bloc, the alumni issued a clear ultimatum: achieve full unity or withdraw from the race if they do not pass the electoral threshold. The letter's signatories stated that the public will not forgive anyone who prioritizes personal gain over the interests of the State of Israel. This appeal joins other recent efforts by reserve commanders and soldiers aiming to prevent division within the right-wing camp and ensure a decisive victory.
