Alumni Urge Netanyahu Allies to Unite or Withdraw from Election
Dozens of alumni from the Bnei David institutions in Eli have penned a sharp letter to two former classmates, retired Brigadier General Ofer Winter and retired Colonel Hazi Nahama, demanding they unite their political forces or withdraw from the upcoming election race. The letter, co-signed by the "Reservists - Generation of Victory" movement, emphasizes the shared values and national responsibility instilled during their time at the academy.
The alumni warn that separate runs by parties appealing to the same right-wing electorate could lead to a "dramatic political loss," potentially costing hundreds of thousands of votes and enabling a "left-wing Arab government." They stress that in an election that could be decided by a few votes, such a split would be disastrous for Israel after three years of difficult war, harming its security, its Jewish character, and its settlement enterprise for years to come.
The graduates are presenting a clear ultimatum: full unification or withdrawal from the political arena to prevent the right-wing bloc from losing. "We are not asking anyone to give up their beliefs or political aspirations," the letter states, but insists that those who cannot be part of a viable, bloc-crossing union must "rise to the occasion" and find other ways to contribute to Israel.
The alumni conclude with a stern warning, reminding Winter and Nahama of their upbringing in an environment that emphasized mission, leadership, and devotion to Israel. They declare they "will not forgive anyone who places their personal benefit above the good of the State of Israel," urging them to prioritize the national interest over personal ambition.
This appeal follows similar calls from other reservists and field operatives who have been working to prevent a split on the right. Earlier in the week, the "Reservists - Generation of Victory" movement sent a letter to party leaders protesting the risk of prolonged conflict without a unified political translation, highlighting the immense security and national challenges facing Israel.
