Degel HaTorah to Vote Against Budget Transfers Over Stalled Daycare Bill

Knesset Finance Committee chairman Moshe Gafni told coalition leaders that Degel HaTorah lawmakers on the committee will vote against all budget transfers brought for approval today. He said the move comes because there has been no progress on advancing the daycare bill, known in Hebrew as the "Hok HaMe'onot."

The decision broadens the boycott announced by the ultra-Orthodox parties yesterday. After Shas and United Torah Judaism refused to back coalition legislation in the Knesset plenum, they protested that the daycare bill had not been placed on the agenda.

Under the new step, Degel HaTorah's two representatives on the Finance Committee will oppose every transfer submitted for approval. The dispute reflects growing friction inside the coalition over the stalled legislation and its impact on budgetary votes.
