Hapoel Tel Aviv Eyes Former NBA Draft Pick James Wiseman

Hapoel Tel Aviv, preparing for the 2026-27 season, is actively seeking a final reinforcement at the center position. The team is reportedly considering former NBA player James Wiseman, who is also being pursued by other European clubs. Wiseman, the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors, has never lived up to expectations and has been hampered by injuries throughout his career. He played only 152 NBA games over six seasons, averaging 9 points and 5.5 rebounds, with stints in Golden State, Detroit, and Indiana.

Wiseman's most recent NBA season was cut short by an Achilles tendon tear in the opening game of the 2024-25 season with the Pacers. He was released by the team in December after making only three appearances, totaling just five games across the last two seasons. He also made a few appearances for the US national team recently.

Another option being considered by Hapoel Tel Aviv is the return of Bruno Caboclo. The Brazilian player, who left Hapoel Tel Aviv in January, is currently without a team for the upcoming season, and the club maintains contact with him. Last season, Caboclo played 11 games for Dubai, averaging 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds.

Hapoel Tel Aviv is looking for an additional center to complement their EuroLeague rotation alongside Dan Otero and Tai Odiase. The club also explored the option of Marcio Santos, whose college status has not yet been officially clarified. The team expects to finalize its roster soon, with Wiseman, Caboclo, or another player likely to complete their frontcourt.
