Israeli Investor Yossi Segol Enters US Nuclear Energy Sector

By גולן חזני
Translated & summarized from Calcalist by baba
The story · English

Israeli businessman Yossi Segol, formerly a co-owner of Keter Plastic, has made a significant investment in ARCVIA, a U.S.-based company developing small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs). This move marks Segol's entry into the burgeoning nuclear energy market, following years of involvement in renewable energy projects.

Segol's investment, amounting to millions of dollars for a 10% stake in ARCVIA, complements his existing portfolio and aims to establish an energy division within his investment firm. Previously, he was a key investor in Econergy, a company focused on solar, wind, and energy storage projects across Europe and Israel, which is currently valued at approximately 5 billion shekels. Segol also holds a roughly 20% stake in Profit Group and recently became the anchor investor in KC Partners, an investment and asset management firm founded by Avi Kaminsky.

ARCVIA was founded in 2025 by Itamar Sarusi and Yehonatan Raskin, both former senior executives at Enerix. Sarusi previously founded and managed Energix US, while Raskin led business development for the group in the U.S. and Europe. They identified an early surge in demand for reliable electricity, particularly for data centers, positioning nuclear energy as a key solution.

The company focuses on developing SMRs in high-demand electricity and data center locations, primarily in the United States. ARCVIA also plans to develop adjacent facilities such as data centers, energy storage systems, and intermediate power generation solutions. Other investors in ARCVIA include Amir Lazar, former CEO of Bank Leumi Mortgages, and Avi Khoury, former CFO of Keter Plastic and Segol's partner in other ventures.

Major U.S. technology companies like Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon are actively pursuing nuclear energy and the development of new small modular reactors, driven by the resurgence of the field due to artificial intelligence demands. According to the American Clean Power Association (ACPA), in 2025, agreements for purchasing electricity from nuclear power reached over 40 terawatt-hours, surpassing all other energy sources including solar and wind.
